Quia tu es, Deus, fortitúdo mea: quare me repulísti, et quare tristis incédo, dum afflígit me inimícus? ℣. Emítte lucem tuam et veritátem tuam: ipsa me deduxérunt et adduxérunt in montem sanctum tuum et in tabernácula tua. ℟. ℣. May almighty God be merciful to thee, and forgiving thy sins, bring thee to everlasting life. ℣. Amen.

Mercifully hear our prayers, we beseech You, O Lord; and stretch forth the right hand of Your Majesty against all things hostile to us.
O God, Who caused blessed John when burning with love for You, to walk unharmed through the midst of flames, and through him enriched Your Church with a new religious family; grant that through the help of his merits, our sins may be burned away by the fire of Your love, and eternal remedies may come to us.
Lesson from the book of Kings In those days, Elias came to Bersabee of Juda, and left his servant there, and he went forward one day’s journey into the desert. And when he was there, and sat under a juniper tree, he requested for his soul that he might die, and said, It is enough for me, Lord, take away my soul: for I am no better than my fathers. And he cast himself down, and slept in the shadow of the juniper tree: and behold an angel of the Lord touched him, and said to him, Arise and eat. He looked, and behold there was at his head a hearth cake, and a vessel of water: and he ate and drank, and fell asleep again. And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said to him, Arise, eat: for you have yet a great way to go. And he arose, and ate, and drank, and walked in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights, to the mount of God, Horeb.
Bring me out of distress, O Lord; put an end to my affliction and my suffering, and take away all my sins. V. To You, I lift up my soul, O Lord. In You, O my God, I trust; let me not be put to shame, let not my enemies exult over me. V. No one who waits for You shall be put to shame; those shall be put to shame who heedlessly break faith.
Tunc dicit: Revértar in domum meam, unde exívi.
Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew At that time, certain of the Scribes and Pharisees answered Him, saying: Master, we would see a sign from You. But He answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, and no sign shall be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet. For even as Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Ninive will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. But when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he roams through dry places in search of rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house which I left’; and when he has come to it, he finds the place unoccupied, swept and decorated. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So shall it be with this evil generation also. While He was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and His brethren were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. And someone said to Him, Behold, Your mother and Your brethren are standing outside, seeking You. But He answered and said to him who told Him, Who is My mother and who are My brethren? And stretching forth His hand toward His disciples, He said, Behold My mother and My brethren! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.
Meditábor in mandátis tuis, quæ diléxi valde: et levábo manus meas ad mandáta tua, quæ diléxi.
I will delight in Your commands, which I love exceedingly. And I will lift up my hands to Your commands which I love.
We offer You, O Lord, this sacrifice of atonement, that You would mercifully absolve our sins and direct our faltering hearts.
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dóminus Deus Sábaoth. Pleni sunt cæli et terra glória tua. Hosánna in excélsis. Benedíctus, qui venit in nómine Dómini. Hosánna in excélsis.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Sabaoth. Heaven and earth are full of Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He that cometh in the Name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Hæc quotiescúmque fecéritis, in mei memóriam faciétis.
We therefore, humbly pray and beseech Thee, most merciful Father, through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, that Thou wouldst vouchsafe to accept and bless these gifts, these presents, these holy unspotted Sacrifices. Which oblation do Thou, O God, vouchsafe in all respects, to bless, approve, ratify, make worthy and acceptable; that it may be made for us the Body and Blood of Thy most beloved Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Who, the day before He suffered, took bread into His holy and venerable hands, and with His eyes lifted up towards heaven unto Thee, God, His almighty Father, giving thanks to Thee, He blessed it, broke it and gave it to His disciples saying: Take and eat ye all of this: FOR THIS IS MY BODY. In like manner, after He had supped, taking also this excellent chalice into His holy and venerable hands, He likewise, giving thanks to Thee, blessed it, and gave it to His disciples, saying: Take and drink ye all of this: FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL TESTAMENT, THE MYSTERY OF FAITH, WHICH SHALL BE SHED FOR YOU AND FOR MANY UNTO THE REMISSION OF SINS. As often as ye do these things, ye shall do them in remembrance of Me.
Pater noster, qui es in cælis, sanctificétur nomen tuum. Advéniat regnum tuum. Fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cælo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie. Et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris. Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem. Sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi: miserére nobis. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi: miserére nobis. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi: dona nobis pacem.
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
Intéllege clamórem meum: inténde voci oratiónis meæ, Rex meus et Deus meus: quóniam ad te orábo, Dómine.
Attend to my sighing, heed my call for help, my King and my God! To You, I pray, O Lord.
By receiving Your sacrament, O Lord, may we be cleansed of our secret sins and delivered from the snares of our enemies.
Orémus. Humiliáte cápita vestra Deo. ℣.
Let us pray. Bow your heads to God. O Lord, we beseech You, shed light upon our minds by the brightness of Your glory, so that we may see what we must do and have strength to do what is right.
℣. Ite, missa est. ℟. Amen. ℣. Benedícat vos omnípotens Deus, Pater, et Fílius, ✝ et Spíritus Sanctus. ℟. Amen.
℣. Go, the Mass is ended. ℟. Thanks be to God. May the performance of my homage be pleasing to Thee, O holy Trinity: and grant that the Sacrifice which I, though unworthy, have offered up in the sight of Thy Majesty, may be acceptable to Thee, and through Thy mercy, be a propitiation for me, and for all those for whom I have offered it. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. ℣. May almighty God the Father, Son, ✝ and Holy Ghost, bless you. ℟. Amen.
℟. Deo grátias.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him: and without Him was made nothing that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men: and the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him. He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light. That was the true light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, He gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in His Name: who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us: and we saw His glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. ℟. Thanks be to God.
